Xihu district wins big in H1
Xihu district of Hangzhou recorded a 60.21 billion yuan ($8.74 billion) in regional gross domestic product (GDP) in the first half of this year, a year-on-year increase of 8 percent, ranking first among all districts in Hangzhou, according to a report released on July 29.
The added value of the high-tech industry rose 25 percent year on year to 2.6 billion yuan. Two new enterprises were listed and seven were established in the district during the first six months.
The district also doubled down on upgrading and renovating old residential areas and pushing ahead with the development of an internet-based elderly service system. Five provincial-level model home care service centers were built in the district.
Looking into the second half of the year, the district will continue to advance innovative projects including the Westlake University and Hangzhou Institute of the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Efforts will also be made to improve quality of life, transportation, environmental, educational, and healthcare services.
