A month after the Liangzhu culture exhibition in Beijing, an exhibition featuring 100 pieces of jade articles from the Palace Museum is slated to open in Liangzhu Museum of Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on Aug 17.
The exquisite collection of showpieces include imperial jade seal, court beads, pen holders, hairpins, makeup boxes, cups and dishes, which represent the highest level of jade craft in the Qing Dynasty.
Zhou Liming, head of the Liangzhu Museum, said that the cooperation with the Palace Museum is of great significance as jade ware was favored by Liangzhu people as early as 5,000 years ago. The jade culture has become a national identity and symbol for Chinese people.
Experts and scholars from the Palace Museum will be invited to give lectures on jade ware culture during the exhibition, which will last until Oct 31.
