Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, ranked as the 74th best conference destination in the world and third among Chinese mainland cities, closely following Beijing and Shanghai, according to the 2019 ranking recently released by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).

This is the third time Hangzhou has been listed among the world’s top 100 conference destinations, and this year's ranking is a record high for the city.

Last spring, RubberCon2019, the highest-level conference of the global rubber industry, was held in Hangzhou for the first time. At the event, 70 researchers from across the globe delivered reports on their latest findings.

International conferences have played an important role in stimulating the local economy and inspiring new ideas in Hangzhou.

Over the past year, Hangzhou has held 38 international conferences revolving around professional domains, 10 more than the previous year. This put the city at 74th among 5,214 Chinese and international cities, compared with 97th in 2018.

Moving forward, the city will continue its strong efforts to become a leading destination for international conferences and conventions.
