As COVID-19 hit the world economy, the National Business Daily rolled out in May a city economic recovery index, evaluating the economic recovery ratio of 335 Chinese cities by comparing millions of data from small and medium-sized enterprises based in these cities. The data, covering tax affairs, invoices, expenditures and others, span from Feb to April 2020 and over the same period in 2019.
Hangzhou in East China's Zhejiang province ranks 8th among the top 10 recovering Chinese cities with a GDP above 1 trillion yuan ($140.19 billion).
