YRD region integrates public security affairs
Residents from the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region, which is made up of Shanghai and the Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui provinces, have benefited from the integration and digitization of public affairs processes, local media reported on June 19.
Previously, getting a hukou, or Chinese household registration, transferred from one city to another required applicants to complete numerous documents. But the introduction of an online platform following discussions by the heads of public security bureaus in the YRD on June 13 has since streamlined the process and reduced processing time.
A man surnamed Yao took only five days to have his documents submitted before his hukou was transferred from Chuzhou in Anhui province to Hangzhou. The new system also meant that he did not have to travel between the two cities to complete the application.
The move to integrate public affairs matters is among the YRD's efforts to attract and retain talent. The region has also rolled out measures such as introducing mini programs embedded in instant messaging apps that users can use to book online administrative services.
