What to expect for Liangzhu Day celebrations

The week-long celebrations for Liangzhu Day, or the Day for the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City, were initiated in Hangzhou on July 6, the same day the 5,000-year-old culture was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list last year.

The celebrations will feature the introduction of commemorative gold and silver coins of Liangzhu culture, sculptures of the ancient city by master artist Han Meilin, and the announcement of a bronze statue of Shi Xin, the man who discovered the ruins.
