Since the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list last year, Yuhang district, where the site is located, has stepped up efforts to formulate more targeted cultural protection measures.

Digital technology has played a crucial role in this process.

For example, a digital system which monitors the 114-square-kilomter archaeological site 24 hours every day can integrate soil and air data transmitted by sensors that are located all around the site and give early warnings to research members.

The site has also created a comprehensive database which includes seven categories - routine inspections, landscapes, diseases, natural environment, archaeological discoveries, and protection projects. The database has been used in the protection and management of the south city wall ruins of Liangzhu City and the hydraulic system of the Carp Mountain – Tiger Range Dam.
