Jiang Lijuan, a delegate to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Party secretary of Xiajiang village in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, was interviewed at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Oct 16.

Jiang explained that after nearly two decades of green development, Xiajiang has managed to integrate culture and tourism to suit local conditions and fatten the pockets of local villagers.

"Villagers can now find jobs within the village. No need to leave home and become migrant workers," Jiang said. "In addition, more and more young people like me are choosing to return to their hometowns to start businesses. We can even get dividends from the village every year."

"Benefiting from access to 5G telemedicine, we can get treatments from expert doctors from hospitals across Zhejiang," Jiang added.
