A delegation of 12 representatives from overseas Chinese media visited Shangcheng district, Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, from Sept 9 to 11 to explore how the district blends traditional culture with innovation.
The delegation visited spots such as Hubin pedestrian street and Deshou Palace, where they experienced Shangcheng's distinctive blend of technology and culture up close.
They tried AI-designed silk scarves, saw cutting-edge applications like AI-generated content and scent technology — which allows users to perceive, transmit, and receive scents through digital media, and learned about the district's latest developments in AI and cultural creativity.
At the historic sites, representatives explored how Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279) culture coexists with modern business models.
Media representatives also shared their impressions of the AI applications. A representative of a Brazilian Chinese-language news outlet said that the AI makeup was an excellent way to bring AI into daily life.
Another representative from the United States played Chinese chess with a robot and said that AI-enhanced Chinese chess would help overseas audiences develop an interest in the game, representing a novel approach to cultural communication.
