The 2025 Lynk & Co Hangzhou Open entered its second day on Sept 17 with seven intense matches, including three in the main draw and four in the final qualifying round.
Russian tennis star Daniil Medvedev spoke highly of the host city during a press conference. "Hangzhou is such a cool city — modern yet rich in history. The facilities are world-class. I hope to stay in the tournament as long as possible," he said.
The night's spotlight match sees local favorite Wu Yibing face the No 6 seed, French player Adrian Mannarino, in his third appearance at home. Wu, who returned to Hangzhou two weeks early to adapt to local conditions, said, "The China swing is always the most important part of the season for us. I hope to perform well this time."
Elsewhere, Argentina's Mariano Navone takes on American rising star Learner Tien, the 20-year-old who stunned Medvedev at this year's Australian Open to become the youngest men's singles Round of 16 qualifier since Nadal in 2005.
The tournament, held at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Tennis Complex, kicked off on Sept 16 and has drawn many top players. China's Zhang Zhizhen aims to balance competition with fitness, while several young Chinese talents, including Chen Ye and Chen Yuren, made their ATP debuts on opening day.
