Hangzhou International Airport in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, launched quick boarding service on Oct 15 on China Southern Airlines' express flights between Hangzhou and Guangzhou, capital city of South China's Guangdong province.
Such service allows passengers without checked baggage to bypass traditional check-in deadlines, enabling them to reach the boarding gate as late as 15 minutes before flight departure. It is primarily targeted at passengers with last-minute schedule changes, unexpected business trips, early or late flights, and frequent business travelers.
By providing dedicated check-in counters, clear directional signage, expedited security checks, and internal shuttle services, the airport aims to significantly reduce transit and waiting times within the terminal.
Passengers are still advised to arrive at the airport 25 to 30 minutes before their flight to account for security checks and travel to the gate. In case of a missed flight, passengers can conveniently rebook and check in through the official China Southern Airlines app directly at the gate.
Since its trial run on Sept 30, the service has accommodated over 20,000 passengers and helped nearly 200 time-pressed travelers catch their flights.
Looking ahead, the airport plans to expand this service to other premium express routes.
