Across an 8,000-square-meter area, around 400,000 tulip bulbs and companion flowers were planted at the Taiziwan Park near West Lake on Dec 7, with all work scheduled for completion by late December — quietly awaiting spring's arrival.
The 2026 exhibition will continue the theme of Love in Full Bloom, blending artistic expression with natural beauty. The key Xiaoyaopo area will feature Butterflies in a Sea of Flowers, incorporating imagery inspired by the Butterfly Lovers legend and the natural rhythms of West Lake.
More than 100 new and specialty tulip varieties will be highlighted in a featured varieties zone. Additional landscapes across Wangshanping, Youran Pavilion, and the main riverbank will mix varieties to form immersive spring flower scenes.
The tulips will bloom in early spring, bringing vibrant seasonal colors to West Lake's classic scenery.
