A new children's amusement park has opened in Hangzhou's Banshan area, quickly earning the nickname "Banshan Disneyland" among local families.
Located in the center of Hangzhou Grand Canal Steelworks Park, Banshan Disneyland, a branch of the Hangzhou Youth Activity Center, has been repurposed from a series of former industrial sites into a child-friendly leisure space. Covering nearly 13,000 square meters — about 60 percent larger than its West Lake flagship park — the new venue features 13 outdoor rides and attractions.
Highlights include the 1958 Dangdang Tram, which links the amusement park with the park's central lawn. The name marks both the founding year of Hangzhou's youth center and the first molten iron produced at Hangzhou Iron and Steel Factory, blending industrial heritage with modern play.
Classic rides such as the carousel and pirate ship have been upgraded in an effort to increase interaction and thrills, while new attractions like the Storm Mecha bring more dynamic experiences. Visitors can also enjoy elevated rides offering panoramic views of the park.
Indoor facilities, including play zones for younger children and an arcade-style activity hall, are being installed and will open soon, making the park an all-weather destination for families in Hangzhou.
