Hangzhou Comprehensive Bonded Zone's airport area passed joint inspection on Dec 23, clearing the way for area-wide customs operations.
The inspection team, led by Hangzhou Customs and Zhejiang provincial authorities, reviewed construction reports, examined infrastructure and regulatory facilities, and observed on-site demonstrations including vehicle gate checks and smart monitoring systems. The team concluded that all requirements were met and approved the zone.
From official approval to inspection clearance, the airport area took just 84 days, completing the entire application, approval, construction, and acceptance process within the same year. The zone advanced application, construction and investment in parallel, significantly shortening timelines through streamlined procedures and early planning.
Covering only 0.4 square kilometers with an airport economic demonstration zone, a pilot free trade zone, a cross-border e-commerce pilot zone, a comprehensive bonded zone and a national logistics hub, the airport area is expected to become a new engine for Hangzhou's outward-oriented economy and regional competitiveness.
It targets modern airport-oriented industries such as bonded R&D, testing and maintenance, cross-border e-commerce, aviation supply chains, digital trade and service trade.
So far, agreements have been signed on seven projects, including lithium battery and semiconductor testing platforms and advanced medical technology projects, with more under negotiation.
