Hangzhou International Airport recorded more than 5.3 million inbound and outbound travelers in 2025, up 11.64 percent year-on-year, customs data showed.

The airport handled 35,700 international flights last year, a 9.13 percent increase, with passenger volume ranking seventh in the nation among Chinese airports. Growth was driven by expanded air routes, easier tax refund services and smarter customs clearance.

In 2025, Hangzhou restored and launched several international passenger routes, including flights to Hanoi, Jakarta and Dubai. Its international passenger network now covers 23 countries and regions across four continents, with over 30 direct international and regional routes.

Inbound foreign travelers reached 459,000, up 28.57 percent, boosted by expanded visa-free and transit policies. Duty-free shopping also surged, with departure tax refund claims jumping 2.7-fold year-on-year.

Customs authorities said smart services, including digital pre-declaration, self-service systems and AI-assisted inspections, have significantly improved clearance efficiency and passenger experience.
