Hangzhou West Railway Station released its 2025 operational data on Jan 5, setting a new record since its opening.
Last year, the station, a key hub on the Yangtze River Delta rail network and Hangzhou's third-largest transport gateway, handled 27.76 million passengers on 82,000 trains, averaging 76,000 passengers per day.
With the maturation of the Hangzhou-Wenzhou and Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou high-speed lines and the integration of the newly built Hangzhou-Quzhou line, train frequency and passenger capacity surged.
In 2025 alone, arrivals and departures reached 14.35 million and 13.42 million, up 130.6 percent and 128.6 percent, respectively. Total traffic surpassed all previous years combined, bringing the station's cumulative passenger volume since opening in 2022 to 49.16 million.
The Hangzhou-Quzhou line will be fully integratd into the national network in 2026, with trains to Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, and Nanjing. The under-construction Shanghai-Hangzhou high-speed line will also connect to Hangzhou West Railway Station, further boosting capacity and supporting travelers' growing mobility needs.
