The Taizhou government and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on Jan 8, marking deeper collaboration and a significant step forward for Taizhou's manufacturing sector.

Geely started its automotive journey in Taizhou over four decades ago. From its roots in the city, Geely has grown into a globally influential automaker, with global sales exceeding 4 million vehicles last year. As Geely's hometown, Taizhou's development has been closely linked with the company's strategy.

In 2025, Geely's six base companies in Taizhou are projected to generate an output value of approximately 60 billion yuan ($8.60 billion), with new energy vehicles accounting for about 96 percent and overall growth exceeding 30 percent. This has helped boost Taizhou's automotive manufacturing industry revenue to over 170 billion yuan.

This year marks the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30). Taizhou aims to develop into a leading intelligent manufacturing hub in the Yangtze River Delta and strive toward becoming a trillion-GDP city.

A core task is cultivating a modern industrial system, with expanding the automotive industry as a top priority. The city plans to upgrade its new energy vehicle industry chain and aims to increase total automotive industry revenue to 200 billion yuan by 2026.

This strengthened collaboration supports Geely's strategic initiatives and aligns with Taizhou's goal of advancing its manufacturing industry. The city has committed to providing robust support and optimal conditions for Geely's ongoing and future projects within its jurisdiction.
