The 4th BRLC New Year Concert, themed "Cento Voices, One Harmony", was staged at Hangzhou Grand Theater on the evening of Jan 16, drawing more than 600 guests, including BRLC member representatives, international experts and foreign residents in Hangzhou.
Hosted by the Belt and Road Local Cooperation Committee (BRLC) and the Secretariat of the United Cities and Local Governments Asia-Pacific (UCLG ASPAC), the concert was conducted by Hong Yin, resident conductor of the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra.
The orchestra performed alongside concertmaster, Yuan Quan, and morin khuur (horsehead fiddle) virtuoso Mai Lasu, offering a musical dialogue that bridged East and West, tradition and modernity.
The program ranged from classical works such as Isabella Overture and The Blue Danube to Chinese folk songs, film soundtracks and global classics. A highlight was Galloping Horses, where the morin khuur's expansive grassland tones blended with symphonic grandeur, deservedly earning it the night's loudest applause.
Now in its fourth edition, the new year concert is a flagship BRLC cultural event. With BRLC membership surpassing 100 cities and institutions worldwide in 2025, the platform continues to use culture as a connector to deepen people-to-people exchanges and advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation at the local level.
