Zhejiang's service sector anchors economic growth
The added value of Zhejiang's service sector grew by 5.8 percent in 2025, contributing 61.3 percent to provincial GDP growth.
Among major subsectors, information transmission, software, and information technology services recorded year-on-year growth of 9.6 percent, while financial services expanded 7.9 percent and wholesale and retail trade rose 7.6 percent.
In 2025, the service sector accounted for 59.4 percent of GDP and contributed more than 60 percent of overall growth. Service-related fixed-asset investment made up 67.7 percent of the provincial total, while service-sector market entities represented 81.9 percent of all registered businesses.
The province hosted more than 730 specialized markets in 2025, with about 225,000 merchants and transaction volumes exceeding 1.7 trillion yuan (about $244.77 billion). Platforms such as the Yiwu International Trade Market have become globally recognized symbols of Zhejiang's service-driven economy.
Zhejiang now has more than 9.53 million registered market entities in the service sector, accounting for over 80 percent of the total. More than 1.47 million new service-sector entities were added during 2025, representing nearly 90 percent of all newly registered businesses.
