Kenyan delegation learns about tech innovation, grassroots governance in Hangzhou

A delegation of officials from Kenya's United Democratic Alliance (UDA) visited Hangzhou from Jan 31 to Feb 2, gaining firsthand insight into the city's technological strength, rural vitalization, and growing China-Kenya cooperation.

On Feb 2, the delegation toured the digital life street of Wensan, where they explored cutting-edge products from Hangzhou's leading tech firms, often dubbed the city's Six Little Dragons. This highlights Hangzhou's advances in the digital economy and innovation-driven growth.

Earlier, on Jan 31, the group visited Tangqi village, observing a villagers' representative meeting and experiencing grassroots governance in practice. The delegation also toured rural industry projects, including shared orchards, leisure facilities, and study centers, learning how the village has progressed to sustainable development.

On Feb 1, a China-Kenya economic and trade matchmaking conference brought together Kenyan officials, local authorities, and enterprises in Qiantang district. Both sides highlighted strong complementarities in manufacturing, digital economy, healthcare, exhibitions, and industrial parks, and expressed interest in expanding cooperation under the Belt and Road framework.

The visit strengthened mutual understanding and opened new channels for practical cooperation, reinforcing Hangzhou's role as a bridge for China-Africa exchange in technology, trade, and local development.
