Zhejiang's China-Europe freight train services have logged more than 15,000 trips, according to the latest data released by Yiwu Customs.
As of Jan 28, customs authorities had supervised about 1.25 million TEUs of import and export cargo transported via the Zhejiang-Europe freight train network, marking a new milestone in its overall operating volume.
Since the first train departed from Yiwu for Madrid, Spain, on Nov 18, 2014, the Zhejiang-Europe freight train service, also known as the Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe route, has become a key platform supporting the province's high-level opening-up and cross-border trade.
To date, the service has opened 26 routes, operates through eight border ports, and reaches more than 50 countries and regions across Eurasia.
The range of cargo has expanded from primarily daily consumer goods to include photovoltaic components, new energy vehicles, and other products, covering 26 major categories and nearly 50,000 items.
Higher value-added goods are increasingly becoming the mainstay of shipments, providing sustained momentum for trade cooperation between Asia and Europe.
