Al-Obaidi Ameen, a reporter for China Arab TV, said China's technological progress has far exceeded his expectations, while attending China's annual Two Sessions.
Speaking during the meetings of the National People's Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Ameen noted that technologies commonly seen in China — especially robots — are often still rare in other countries.
He said the robots showcased during the CCTV Spring Festival Gala were particularly striking. "The progress in just one year feels like 10 years," he said.
Ameen, who frequently visits Hangzhou, pointed to everyday innovations such as wireless charging at bus stops and automated coffee kiosks as examples of China's rapid technological adoption. While these features seem ordinary to local residents, he said they often surprise visitors from abroad.
He also praised China's advances in artificial intelligence, noting that Chinese technologies such as DeepSeek are gaining global users.
Having lived in China for 15 years, Ameen said the country's steady development planning — such as its five-year plans — has helped drive continuous innovation. He added that foreign journalists should travel widely in China and learn the language and culture in order to tell authentic stories about the country.
