Jiande has launched its first airborne emergency rescue station, introducing drone-powered life-saving support to cut response times in critical situations.
Put into operation on March 28, the system targets cardiac arrest emergencies, when the first four to six minutes are crucial. While ambulances may take around 10 minutes during peak traffic, drones equipped with AED devices can be dispatched instantly, arriving within two minutes and delivering supplies within five.
Two types of rescue drones are in use: one provides real-time voice guidance to assist bystanders, while the other delivers critical supplies such as AEDs, blood, and emergency medicines. All stations operate 24/7 without on-site staff.
Local residents are also being recruited as first responders. In emergencies, volunteers within a three-kilometer radius are alerted simultaneously to reach the scene alongside drones.
The project, jointly developed by local health, public security, and data authorities, is part of Jiande's push into low-altitude economy innovation. By 2026, the city plans to expand the network to achieve full urban coverage, creating a faster, more responsive emergency rescue system.
