A wearable exoskeleton developed by Hangzhou Technik Technology Co has captured international attention after a viral moment at the 139th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair).
During the event's service robot exhibition, an Argentine visitor, Maria Laura, who has limited mobility due to muscular illness, was helped into the company's waist-assisted exoskeleton. Within moments, she was able to stand and walk several steps, prompting emotional reactions from those around her. The scene quickly spread online, drawing widespread praise for the technology's real-life impact.
On April 21, Maria Laura traveled to Hangzhou to visit the company behind the device and experience it again firsthand, describing it as "amazing". She is now exploring partnerships to introduce the product to Argentina and expressed interest in purchasing one herself.
The lightweight device, weighing just 1.8 kilograms, uses AI-driven motion sensing to assist lower-limb movement, reducing physical strain by up to 50 percent. Designed for applications ranging from daily mobility to outdoor activity and rehabilitation, the product is part of a new generation of consumer-grade exoskeletons.
According to the company, online searches for the device have surged by nearly 300 percent following the viral video, with strong pre-order demand ahead of its planned release later this year.
