Since becoming sister cities in 1982, Hangzhou and Boston have continued to strengthen their partnership through cultural exchange and people-to-people connections.
From Dragon Boat Festival activities to the showcasing of Chinese intangible cultural heritage at the 2023 Boston Dragon Boat Festival, the two cities have continued to grow closer. A youth exchange agreement signed during the 7th China-US Sister Cities Conference last year further reinforced the friendship between the two sides.
Plans to build a Hangzhou-style garden in Boston also reflect a growing cross-cultural resonance, highlighting the enduring strength of people-to-people ties across continents.
