Intl students bring global cultures to life at Hangzhou campus

Students from more than a dozen countries gathered at Zhejiang International Studies University for the 8th International Cultural Festival and the opening of the 2026 BRICS Country Theme Year (Brazil), celebrating cultural diversity and youth exchange.
Held under the theme "Languages Connect the World, Harmony Through Diversity", the festival coincided with the China-Brazil Year of Cultural Exchange and, for the first time, introduced a BRICS-themed program with Brazil as the guest country.
Students from China, Egypt, Brazil, Peru, Poland, Germany, Russia, France, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom and Colombia joined a series of activities spanning cultural dialogue, lectures, creative competitions and interactive exhibitions.

The opening ceremony featured vibrant performances by Chinese and international students, including folk songs, dance shows, instrumental music and multicultural vocal performances.
Following the ceremony, a country-themed fair transformed the campus into a global cultural showcase. Twenty-six exhibition booths offered immersive experiences ranging from Brazilian football games and cultural quizzes to traditional Chinese Song Dynasty tea-whisking demonstrations.
Students praised the event as a unique opportunity to experience different cultures firsthand and strengthen international friendships, highlighting the university's commitment to fostering global engagement and cultural exchange.
