Hangzhou's run in the 2026 Zhejiang City Football League (Wuyue Cup) came to an end on May 31 after a hard-fought 0-1 loss to Taizhou in the quarterfinals.

Playing at Shangcheng Sports Center Stadium, Hangzhou struggled against a younger and energetic Taizhou side. After a scoreless first half, the decisive moment came in the 65th minute when a Taizhou shot rebounded off a Hangzhou defender and into the net for an own goal.

Despite making several attacking substitutions and pushing for an equalizer, Hangzhou was unable to convert its chances and exited the tournament at the last-eight stage.

The match drew strong support across the city. In addition to fans at the stadium, 11 public viewing sites were set up around Hangzhou, allowing residents to watch and cheer for the home team.

Although disappointed by the result, supporters praised the team's fighting spirit and standout performances throughout the tournament.

With the 2026 campaign over, Hangzhou's players and fans are already looking ahead to next season and another bid for the Wuyue Cup title.
