Chinese dancer Wu Yufei and eight robots from Unitree Robotics captivated audiences on America's Got Talent with a futuristic performance that blended dance, robotics and Chinese martial arts.
Aired on June 2, the act featured synchronized choreography between Wu and the humanoid robots, which executed complex movements including coordinated dance routines, balance adjustments and backflips. The performance earned praise from the judges and a unanimous vote to advance to the next round.
The robots used in the show were Unitree's G1 humanoid models, the same series featured in high-profile performances in China such as the Spring Festival Gala. Equipped with advanced sensors, 3D lidar and AI-powered motion capabilities, the robots demonstrated remarkable agility and coordination on stage.
Unitree provided the robots and technical support for the show. Wu said he had hoped to perform on the program for three years and viewed the collaboration as an opportunity to showcase Chinese innovation to a global audience.
"This performance is not only for today's audience, but also for the future," Wu said, expressing his fascination with the growing partnership between humans and robots in creative fields.
Having advanced with four yes votes, Wu is expected to return to the America's Got Talent stage later this year.
