Members of a delegation from Germany's Schleswig-Holstein experienced traditional Chinese dragon boat culture during a visit to Hangzhou's Xixi National Wetland Park on June 10, adding a cultural highlight to their trip focused on Zhejiang province's new-energy vehicle and intelligent mobility industries.
As part of activities marking the 40th anniversary of the sister-province relationship between Zhejiang and Schleswig-Holstein, the visitors learned about dragon boat traditions, took part in ceremonial preparations, and joined local paddlers on the water.
"Everyone worked together, and it was amazing," one participant said after the race, praising the teamwork and spirit of the sport.
The event showcased dragon boating as a bridge for cultural exchange. Once rooted in Chinese tradition, the sport has grown in popularity worldwide, including in Germany, helping connect people through shared values of teamwork, friendship, and mutual understanding.
