While the world's attention turns to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, several cutting-edge technologies from Hangzhou are quietly making an impact behind the scenes, from AI-powered viewing experiences to advanced sports analytics.
Leading the way is Hangzhou-based Rokid, which has become the exclusive AI glasses partner for China Media Group's World Cup coverage. The partnership marks the first time AI smart glasses have been used for a global sporting event of this scale.
Using Rokid's AI glasses, fans can access real-time match information, team lineups, kickoff schedules and interactive viewing features directly within their field of vision, creating a more immersive football experience.
Another Hangzhou company, Youqiuzhixing, has signed an exclusive partnership with Rokid to provide sports data services. Its AI-powered sports models can analyze live football and basketball matches, generate tactical reports and deliver real-time insights. The company's technology is also being introduced to European football clubs, including Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Sporting CP.
Hangzhou-based silk manufacturer Wensli has supplied its pioneering AI-powered waterless printing technology for the production of World Cup jerseys. The technology uses AI to precisely control dye usage, eliminating wastewater discharge while preserving fabric breathability and performance.
The technology has reportedly been adopted for new World Cup kits worn by several national teams, including Germany, Argentina and Spain.
