The Wuyue Kingdom (907–978), founded by Qian Liu, is remembered for its orderly transition to the Song Dynasty (960–1279) under King Qian Hongchu, a historical episode that aligned with broader historical trends and improved many people's livelihoods.
As the kingdom's former capital, Hangzhou preserves a rich concentration of Wuyue cultural heritage sites and relics.
In a bid to boost the popularity of traveling through Hangzhou following the hit TV drama Swords into Plowshares, which is based on the history of the Wuyue Kingdom, the Hangzhou municipal bureau of culture, radio, TV and tourism, together with the municipal bureau of gardens and cultural relics, has curated 30 landmark sites in seven categories. The initiative invites residents and visitors to experience the elegance of Wuyue civilization and explore its thousand-year legacy.
