The annual Hangzhou Liangzhu Day has become a platform for dialogue among civilizations. On July 6, the 2026 Liangzhu and the World dialogue brought together more than 100 guests from China and Uzbekistan to discuss heritage conservation, management and sustainable use, with Liangzhu Ancient City and Samarkand as this year's focus.

Launched in 2022, the initiative has engaged with Stonehenge, the Acropolis of Athens, Toledo and Rome, expanding its reach from Western Europe to the Mediterranean and Central Asia. Its agenda has also evolved from introducing Liangzhu's heritage value to exploring cultural interpretation, living heritage, digital technology and sustainable development.

This year, Uzbek guests visited the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City, the World Heritage monitoring center and Liangzhu Museum, experiencing the 5,000-year-old Liangzhu civilization through technologies including AI glasses.

Over five years, Liangzhu's international engagement has grown from sharing China's heritage story to exploring common challenges facing humanity. Through dialogue and cooperation, the ancient city is offering a contemporary perspective on how civilizations can learn from one another and thrive together.
