For many young people from Taiwan visiting the Chinese mainland for the first time, artificial intelligence and digital technology are no longer scenes seen in videos — they are part of everyday life.

From July 6 to 11, more than 60 Taiwan youth participated in the Zhejiang leg of the 23rd Taiwan Compatriot Youth Summer Camp, visiting sites showcasing AI, smart manufacturing and the digital economy.

At a smart factory in Hangzhou, participants watched robotic arms assemble products, automated systems conduct quality checks and AGVs transport materials. In Hangzhou's West Lake area, robotic traffic officers also caught the visitors' attention with automated traffic monitoring and voice warnings.

At a livestreaming e-commerce base, participant Wu Min-hua explored everything from livestream production and real-time sales data to supply-chain management and brand development. After more than a decade in Taiwan's catering industry, she said the visit inspired her to consider combining food services with livestreaming after returning home.
