Hosted by the Hangzhou Bureau of Landscape and Cultural Relics and Hangzhou City University, the academic conference AI-era Protection and Innovative Development of World Cultural Heritage brought together experts from China and abroad in Hangzhou.

Experts discussed how AI can support heritage conservation while stressing that technology cannot replace the human experience of heritage sites. They also highlighted risks such as AI hallucinations.

Italian museology scholar Barrella Nadia from the University of Campania joined the conference online, sharing her perspectives on AI's opportunities and challenges for museums and heritage institutions.

She expressed hopes for greater Sino-Italian cooperation, proposing joint research, professional training, and closer collaboration among universities, museums and heritage institutions.

The Hangzhou International Communication Centre unveiled its upcoming global project From Liangzhu to the World, bringing Liangzhu civilization to museums around the world through technology-enhanced exhibitions.
