The fifth Global Digital Trade Expo opened in Hangzhou on Sept 23, showcasing emerging technologies and new scenarios that could reshape everyday life across six themed exhibition areas.

In the Smart Mobility Zone, EVT Aerotechnics' ET9, a five-seat electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, drew visitors eager to experience the future of low-altitude travel. Designed for intercity commuting, the eVTOL is expected to cost less than 3 yuan (44 cents) per passenger-kilometer once mass-produced, according to Ren Wenguang, chairman of EVT Aerotechnics.

Tesla's Cybercab autonomous electric vehicle was another highlight. Designed specifically for driverless travel, the production model has no steering wheel, pedals, or rearview mirrors, offering a glimpse of a future in which passengers may no longer need to drive themselves.

At the Smart Entertainment Zone, digital technology is reshaping cultural consumption. Visitors lined up to try NetEase's latest games, such as the open-world anime RPG Ananta, which recreates urban scenes from Shanghai and Hangzhou while incorporating elements of traditional Chinese culture.

The Artificial Intelligence Zone featured a cleaning robot that can identify stains, switch cleaning heads, and automatically complete washing, vacuuming, and drying.

In the Smart Healthcare Zone, a remote intelligent ultrasound system developed by Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, affiliated with Zhejiang University School of Medicine, attracted professional visitors.

Across the expo, emerging technologies are moving from concepts to practical applications, offering a glimpse into how digital innovation may shape future lifestyles.
