The fifth Global Digital Trade Expo took place in Hangzhou from Sept 23 to 27, attracted more than 2,000 exhibitors, and covered 170,000 square meters. The expo highlighted the growing integration of AI into mobility, manufacturing, and commerce — showcasing how AI is moving into increasingly practical applications.

Among the exhibits were cars without steering wheels, aircraft that can switch flight modes, and robots working alongside humans.

At the Smart Mobility Zone, Tesla's Cybercab features no steering wheel, brake, or accelerator pedals, offering a glimpse of autonomous travel. Zhejiang Dreamfly Technology's DF3000, a six-seat compound-wing aircraft, combines helicopter-style vertical takeoff and landing with fixed-wing cruising.

At the AI Zone, Hangzhou Star Species Robotics' X2 Pro is already working in a real-world setting: cleaning public toilets in Hangzhou. The robot handles repetitive cleaning tasks, while human cleaners focus on detailed work. The company has deployed more than 100 units in Hangzhou.

Another robot, MALO from Zeno Future Technology, is designed to enable multiple service robots to coordinate without a centralized controller. Each robot has its own local model and can assess whether it needs to assist another robot with a task.

AI is also entering business operations. CarryGo, a world model developed by Bieyoudongtian Technology and adopted by Yowant Technology, can break down business objectives, decide which tasks AI or people should handle, and connect with existing enterprise systems.

For cross-border trade, Alibaba International's Accio has served more than 10 million users globally and can shorten the process from product search to ordering by about 80 percent, according to the company's product introduction.
