The China Academy of Art on Feb 23 opened a major exhibition at its school museum in Hangzhou, celebrating the 20th anniversary of its initiative to build a world-class university.
Structured around six themes — commitment to the people, master craftsmanship, integration of art and technology, the "wall-less" academy, cultural harmony, and global exchange — the exhibition presents 20 case studies that trace the academy's reform and development over the past two decades.
Through painting, calligraphy and sculpture, the displays highlight the institution's efforts to creatively transform and revitalize traditional Chinese culture. Major national-themed artworks and public cultural projects underscore its role in shaping national identity and contributing to contemporary cultural discourse.
Design, architecture and innovation projects demonstrate how the academy has leveraged interdisciplinary strengths to serve national strategies, advance industry collaboration and promote urban-rural development. Exhibits on art theory, visual studies and foundational education reflect its commitment to building an independent Chinese art historical narrative while fostering globally minded artistic talent.
Showcases in film, animation, digital media and game design further illustrate curriculum innovation and the fusion of technology and humanistic values.
The exhibition is being held at the China Academy of Art Museum and runs through May 23, with free public admission.
