Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) from Hangzhou captivated international audiences at the 2026 Global HealthTech Summit, held from March 3 to 5 at the Basel Exhibition Center in Switzerland.

Innovative products developed by Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine attracted widespread attention, showcasing the modernization and global appeal of TCM.

One of the highlights was the auricular therapy experience. Wang Shujie, head nurse of the hospital, demonstrated the technique on a French visitor by stimulating the Shenmen acupoint on the ear. The participant described a sensation "like a gentle electric current", followed by noticeable relaxation. A small herbal seed was then applied to the acupoint and covered with a decorative crystal, transforming the therapeutic tool into a fashionable accessory that blends health benefits with aesthetic appeal.

The tuina (therapeutic massage) zone also drew strong interest. Swiss medical entrepreneur Patrick Lederer experienced significant relief from chronic neck and shoulder stiffness after a 10-minute session by physician Jin Xin. He described the sensation as his shoulders "melting", highlighting TCM's effectiveness in addressing musculoskeletal discomfort.

Professor Yang Junchao, vice-president of the hospital, noted that Europe's growing interest in integrative and preventive medicine aligns with TCM's philosophy of treating disease before it arises.

The summit demonstrated how modernized, accessible TCM solutions are helping translate ancient wisdom into practical global healthcare applications, strengthening its international influence.
