The Saone Chang Art Center opened on March 26 in Qinghefang historic street, marking the return of renowned artist Chang Shana (Saone Chang) to her hometown on her 95th birthday.

Located in Shangcheng district, the center serves as a new cultural landmark integrating Dunhuang art research, traditional pattern studies and public art education. It is Chang's second personal art center, following the one in Dunhuang.

Spanning 660 square meters, the venue showcases over 200 works, including Dunhuang-inspired paintings, personal creations and design drafts from major national projects. Highlights include the cloisonne Peace Dove plate, once presented as a state gift.

Chang Shana, daughter of famed Dunhuang scholar Chang Shuhong, has dedicated her life to preserving and innovating Dunhuang art. The new center serves as both a de facto homecoming and a continuation of that legacy.

Beyond exhibitions, the space blends art with lifestyle, featuring cultural products such as ceramics and silk designs inspired by Dunhuang motifs. Organizers say it aims to connect traditional aesthetics with modern urban life through rotating exhibitions and cross-sector collaborations.
