Hangzhou, Taiwan musicians unite in spring exchange concert

A spring music exchange concert celebrating cultural heritage and cross-Strait friendship was held at the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music in Hangzhou on April 1.
Centered on the theme of Inheriting Chinese musical traditions and deepening cross-Strait exchanges, the event brought together the Nantou Chinese Orchestra from Taiwan and faculty and students from the conservatory.
During the concert, both ensembles showcased their distinctive styles. The Nantou orchestra performed evocative pieces such as Memories of Childhood, April Rain Suite, and Drinking Song, highlighting the unique charm of Taiwan musical expression.
Meanwhile, Zhejiang Conservatory ensembles presented classics like Vibrant Jiangnan and Radiance of Lanterns and Moonlight, blending traditional Chinese melodies with modern arrangements and exemplifying the elegance of Jiangnan musical traditions.
The highlight of the evening was a joint performance of Spring Blossoms and Autumn Harvest, symbolizing shared cultural roots and emotional bonds across the Taiwan Strait. The harmonious fusion of strings and winds brought the audience to a standing ovation.
During their stay, the Taiwan musicians will also visit scenic sites such as Xixi Wetland and Songcheng scenic area, further experiencing Hangzhou's rich cultural and natural heritage.
