Hangzhou International Airport has processed its first batch of cross-border e-commerce return goods under the "9610" retail export model this year, marking the launch of a new cross-customs district return channel.
The shipment, consisting of clothing and daily necessities, was originally exported to European markets from ports such as Shanghai and Shenzhen in mid-December last year. Due to overseas consumer returns, the goods were transported back to China and cleared through Hangzhou instead of their original export locations.
Traditionally, cross-border e-commerce exports have faced significant challenges in handling returns, including high logistics costs and lengthy processing times, as goods were required to be sent back to the original port for customs procedures.
The new cross-customs district supervision model removes this limitation, allowing returned goods to be processed at different customs jurisdictions. This creates a more efficient and flexible reverse logistics channel, reducing costs and accelerating capital turnover for businesses.
Officials noted that the initiative will further enhance Hangzhou's role as a high-level international hub for cross-border e-commerce, supporting its expanding global trade network.
