The Hangzhou team recently secured its first win of the 2026 Zhejiang Provincial City Football League, also known as the Wuyue Cup, defeating Jiaxing 2-0 in a rain-soaked home match.

Olympic swimming champion Sun Yang, a native of Hangzhou, attended the game and performed the ceremonial kick-off, adding a sense of excitement to the occasion.

Despite challenging weather conditions that hampered their possession-based style, Hangzhou dominated the first half and ultimately sealed the victory. The breakthrough came in the 18th minute when a video assistant referee review awarded Hangzhou a penalty after a foul in the box. Former Zhejiang Professional Football Club player Wu Haoyi calmly converted the spot kick, marking his second consecutive goal and placing him at the top of the tournament's scoring chart.

Hangzhou extended their lead in the 29th minute when Jin Yihang dribbled into the penalty area and delivered a clinical finish the match, igniting the enthusiasm of the 6,500 fans at Xiaoshan Sports Center. Jiaxing pressed for a comeback after the break, but Hangzhou goalkeeper Jiang Yutao landed a crucial save to preserve the clean sheet.

With one win and one draw, Hangzhou remains third in the rankings, with a total of four points.
