A unique artistic dialogue between the ancient Silk Road and the poetic landscapes of Jiangnan has begun with the opening of Eternal Glaze: Dunhuang in a Moment, a high-temperature colored glaze porcelain panel exhibition in Hangzhou's Xihu district.
Running from April 15 to 30 at the Encounter Dunhuang exhibition hall on Wensan Road, the exhibition presents works by young artist Zhang Dabao, who blends the aesthetics of Dunhuang murals with the craftsmanship of Jingdezhen ceramics.
By using porcelain as a canvas, glaze as pigment, and kiln fire as the creative force, the exhibition captures the essence of Dunhuang's millennia-old artistic heritage in enduring ceramic form.
As a graduate of both Jingdezhen Ceramic University and the China Academy of Art's Dunhuang Mural program, Zhang has long explored the fusion of traditional mural art and high-temperature glaze techniques. Her work is widely regarded as a contemporary revival of the cultural legacy of Jingdezhen, China's historic porcelain capital.
