The Cycling the Silk Road: From Morocco to China Photography Exhibition opened on April 29 at the Fashion Gallery of China National Silk Museum in Hangzhou.
The exhibition serves as a warm-up event for the 2026 Silk Road Week, with Morocco starring as this year's guest country. Moroccan Ambassador to China Abdelkader El Ansari attended the opening ceremony.
Featuring 50 documentary photographs, the exhibition follows Moroccan endurance athlete and traveler Karim Mosta on his seven-month cycling journey from Casablanca to Beijing. Covering around 15,000 kilometers across 15 countries, the route stretched through Africa, Europe and Asia, creating what organizers describe as a "modern Silk Road" through images.
The exhibition also echoes the legacy of 14th-century Moroccan explorer Ibn Battuta, who famously traveled to China centuries ago. Through landscapes and everyday moments captured along the route, visitors can experience the cultural exchanges, friendship and spirit of exploration that have long defined the Silk Road.
The exhibition will run through July 31.
