China names Hu Mingxuan, Wu Yu as flag bearers at 20th Asian Games
Basketball player Hu Mingxuan and boxer Wu Yu will serve as flag bearers for China at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, the Chinese delegation announced Wednesday.
Hu, 28, is a guard for the Guangdong Southern Tigers in the Chinese Basketball Association. He helped China's men team take bronze at the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023 and captains the team at this year's Games.
Wu, 31, is the reigning Olympic champion in the women's 50-kilogram division. She won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics and also claimed the Asian Games title in the same weight class in Hangzhou in 2023.
The 2026 Asian Games will officially open Saturday and run through October 4. Japan is hosting the event for the third time.
